Phthalic acid esters of C8 alcohols. Acts as a primary phthalate based plasticizer for PVC and PVC copolymers. Shows slight solubility in water (0.285mg/l at 24 deg C) but good solubility in alcohols, hexane etc. Exhibits miscibility and compatibility with monomeric plasticizers of PVC compounding. Used as a plasticizer in PVC resins for fabricating flexible vinyl products like : vinyl upholestry, shower curtains, shoes, raincoats, swimming pool liners, tablecloth, garden hoses, component of paper and paperboard, defoaming agents. Also suitable for use in medical and food grade applications like : Drinking water bottles, Toys, disposable syringes, and many medical appliances.
