Dioctyl phthalate. Acts as a plasticizer. It is compatible with most common resins and affords good resin solvation. Is stable to light and heat. Provides the optimum performance at a reasonable cost level. Exhibits good low temperature performance, low extraction by oil, water and soap solutions. Possesses excellent dielectric properties and imparts permanent flexibility. In interior laquers, improves cold-check resistance. In automotive laquers, exhibits good rubbing and polishing in addition to good initial gloss, retention and resistance to chalking.
