Calofort® S

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Specialty Minerals
Precipitated calcium carbonate. In rigid PVC it is used to increase impact strength, particularly at low temperatures, and give improved surface gloss and whiteness. In plasticised PVC it gives excellent scuff resistance and improved surface properties. Is a white stearate coated microcrystalline powder characterized by high surface area, controlled particle shape and high whiteness. Consists of fine calcitic crystals with an average particle size of 0.07µm. Due to its very small particle size, it has a tendency to form soft agglomerates. Is used in rubbers due to its very good reinforcement properties and is particularly useful where hot tear strength is required. Other uses include reinforcing filler in polyester molding compounds and carrier for additives used in plastic compounds.
