2-(2'-Hydroxy-5'-tert-octylphenyl)-benzotriazole. Acts as a ultraviolet light absorber of the hydroxy phenyl benzotriazole class. Has excellent washfastness as compared to other UV absorbers. Possesses high molecular weight and faint odor. The light stability of polymer can be further enhanced by use of a phenolic antioxidants and a hindered amine light stabilizer. HXA UV-329 has low volatility and high lipophilicity, hence useful where additive losses may occur during high temperature processing. Its inherent off-white color renders itself more suitable for application where light color is critical. Used widely for polyolefins and cold-cured polyester resin. A percentage of 0.2% - 1.0% of HXA UV-329 is recommended for protection.
