A New Generation of Stabilizers for High Quality Polyolefin Recyclates

Bruggemann
This is a Past Webinar

The successful application of almost all polymers requires extensive know-how on the effects of polymer additives. As well the recycling of polyolefins needs to be optimized by the right choice of stabilizers, processing agents and ideally repair agents. Existing polymer additives in this field are addressing many of these topics but missing a repair technology. Although polyolefins do not contain functional groups, that can be utilized for chemical repair, this question was recently addressed by two strong partners, the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF in Darmstadt and L. Brüggemann GmbH & Co. KG, Heilbronn. LBF brought into the development their know-how on all kind of stabilizers chemistry and Brüggemann brought in their comprehensive experience in the field of commercial production of polymer additives and its worldwide marketing and distribution.

The first results of this cooperation shall support the polymer industry to strengthen the circular economy. The first new products BRUGGOLEN® R8895 and BRUGGOLEN® TP-R2090 helping to recycle polypropylene from battery cases or postindustrial and post-consumer polypropylene waste streams. Both are straight forward to employ “one packs“ to add them dust-free including restabilizers, processing and repair agents. Next field of application of the new repair technology will be polyethylene recycling.

Matthias Bruch Technical Marketing Manager AP-NYLON® Additives - L.Brueggemann GmbH & Co. KG

Matthias Bruch After studying polymer chemistry in Freiburg/Germany Matthias Bruch worked in the development of norbornene co-polymers in Ticona’s medical and optical applications as a head of laboratory. At TOPAS Advanced Polymers he led the development team and managed a full-continuous polyolefin production plant in Frankfurt. For the last seven years he is the product manager for the catalysts and activators of L. Brüggemann’s Cast Nylon products. Currently he has added the responsibility for the Bruggolen® R-Series for recycling of polyolefins at L. Brüggemann.
