Daikin fluoro based polymers processing aids are additives used to increase productivity and quality of PE materials during extrusion. These additives have the advantage to not compromise on PE performance as only few hundred ppm are needed.

Get sharkskin-free effect with PPA

Did you ever face rough, non-glossy surfaces or, properties modifications of the polymer for your PE blown films, pipes and tubes applications?

These imperfections might come during extrusion of melted polymers. When no polymer processing aid is employed, the energy difference between the polyolefin and the capillary wall leads to no slippage. Finally the melt fracture, also known as sharkskin appears at the exit of the extruder.

To prevent sharkskin, Polymer Processing Aids (PPAs) are incorporated in the formulation. With a level of 300 to 1000 ppm only, they favor polymer slip and clearly reduce the melt fracture as illustrated in Figure 1.
