Birla Carbon and CHASM Advanced Materials are joining forces to accelerate the discovery and development of novel nanomaterials to benefit various market segments including high-performance tires, novel coatings and next-generation batteries.

Combining CHASM and Birla Carbon’s Expertise

Through this joint development agreement, the two companies will share research and engineering resources to develop and manufacture hybrid nanomaterials based on carbon substrates and carbon nanotubes. These hybrid nanomaterials will combine CHASM’s nanotube enhanced carbon (NTeC) technology with Birla Carbon’s expertise in commercialization and manufacturing. In doing so, the companies anticipate jointly developing novel carbon nanomaterials tailored for performance in a wide variety of demanding applications.

Sharing his views, Dr. Santrupt B. Misra, chief executive officer, Birla Carbon, director, chemicals and director, group human resources, Aditya Birla Group said, “We are very excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with CHASM Advanced Materials. The combination of CHASM’s expertise in nanotube enhancement and our deep knowledge of carbon substrates and applications offers us the chance to rapidly advance our understanding of these high-performance, scalable nanomaterials.

Collaboration Aimed at Driving Innovative Solutions

The collaboration is ultimately aimed at driving sustainable innovative solutions to address customer, consumer and industry needs.

As one of the world’s leading producers of engineered nanomaterials, CHASM looks forward to collaborating with Birla Carbon, who offer us faster access to customers and markets. Their experience with large-scale manufacturing of engineered nanomaterials is outstanding”, stated David Arthur, CHASM, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder.
