US EPA Releases Croda’s Slip Additive from SNUR Regulations

Published on 2020-04-14. Edited By : SpecialChem

racing-cyclistCroda has announced that The US EPA has determined that in accordance with TSCA Section 5(a)(3)(C) that Incroslip™ SL is not likely to present and unreasonable risk to health or the environment.

Slip Additive with Superior Stability

Incroslip™ SL is a slip additive technology specially developed as a high slip additive with superior stability for use where traditional slip additives, such as erucamide and oleamide are unable to give the desired performance.

As conventional amides breakdown under exposure to environmental conditions, oxidation brings about negative effects such as odor, taste and changes in color in the end application. Incroslip™ SL has demonstrated its superior stability even in the most challenging conditions to give high slip performance over time without any performance issues.

Incroslip™ SL as Anti-Scratch Additive

Incroslip™ SL also functions tremendously well as an anti-scratch additive for use in automotive injection molded parts. One specific area of success focuses on dashboard instrument panels composed of TPO, which is routinely exposed to high temperatures and high UV exposure for extended periods of time. Conventional TPO material, which uses erucamide, forms a tacky surface and shows visible blooming effects. Panels with TPO using Incroslip™ SL gave excellent anti-scratch performance as its superior stability withstood the harsh environmental conditions.

Kim Locetta, Croda’s North American sales manager commented, “As stricter regulatory regulations continue to evaluate new and innovative molecules, we are excited to confirm the safety of Incroslip™ SL. Our customers will now be able to capitalize on the performance advantages it offers, allowing further innovation to the market and benefits unseen before.
