Carbon blacks act as black pigment. Its small particle size and high oil absorption offer excellent color strength, cost-effectiveness, and ultraviolet performances to the polymer. Carbon blacks also act as a good light absorber, antistatic agent and improve the electrical conductivity of the polymer. Carbon blacks may be applied to create full-shade black plastics or as a tinting pigment to modify the color of the chromatic pigments in plastics. Carbon blacks also find applications in various rubber compounds as reinforcements.
