Inorganic pigments are widely employed in the plastic industry. Unlike the organic counterparts, they are not bright, do not offer good tint strength, but, are economical and stable at even high temperatures. Dispersion is often an issue with this class of pigments. Based on heavy metal oxides, inorganic pigments are considered highly toxic and are limited to coloring opaque materials only. Pigments that come under this category are titanium oxide, lead chromates, lead molybdate, chromium titanate amongst several others.
