SP-1055 Resin

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Akrochem
SP-1055 Resin (Old Name: Akrochem® P-124) by Akrochem is a heat-reactive, brominated octylphenol-formaldehyde resin-based tackifier that contains methylol groups. It exhibits good processing properties, faint halogen odor and shows a slower cure than SP-1056 due to lower bromine content. It offers an adequate scorch safety margin in a wide processing range and does not require a halogen donor. SP-1055 Resin, in rubber compounds, possesses exceptional scorch safety, high-temperature stability and excellent dynamic properties. It is used with butyl rubber and other unsaturated elastomers with or without functionality. In this grade to fasten the cure rate, the presence of functionality is required. Recommended dosage level of self-activating resin for butyl rubber is 12 phr, for maximum ozone resistance is 15 phr, with halo-butyl is 3-5 phr, for the unsaturated polymers like NR or SBR is 10-15 phr, in EPDM is 15 phr and to maximize state-of-cure, add 5 phr ZnO and Hypalon as additional activators.
