Luperox® 219M75

Luperox® 219M75 by Arkema is 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoyl peroxide. It acts as a polymerization initiator. It is compatible with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low-density polyethylene (LDPE), ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), (meth) acrylates, acrylonitrile, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and styrene acrylonitrile (SAN). Its decomposition predominantly gives rise to the formation of selective free radicals appropriate to monomer addition and CO2 that is easy to devolatilize in the monomer recovery step. It can be processed using injection molding. In order to facilitate accurate metering and provide a higher reactor safety, Luperox® 219M75 polymer initiator is preferentially diluted with aliphatic solvents prior to injection. According to its activity it is used in the temperature range of 50°C to 65°C for PVC polymer initiation. Typical initiator concentration ranges between 0.1% and 0.3%.
