Luperox® 270

Technical Datasheet | Supplied by Arkema
Luperox® 270 by Arkema is tert-butyl peroxy-3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate (nonanoate). It acts as a polymerization initiator. It is compatible with low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polystyrene, and acrylic resins. It is suitable to be used in the free radical polymerization of ethylene and copolymerization of ethylene and vinylacetate in high pressure tubular or autoclave reactors. Luperox® 270 polymer initiator is applicable in the temperature range of 190°C to 250°C according to the required reaction profile of LDPE. It works in the temperature range of 90°C to 120°C for the polymerization of polystyrene, and about 135°C temperature is required for the polymerization of acrylic resins. Luperox® 270 is a good alternative for Luperox® P tert-butyl peroxybenzoate, to avoid possible formation of benzene. Typical usage level range between 0.02% and 0.10%.
