BYK®-W 972 by BYK is a wetting and dispersing additive for SMC/BMC and pultrusion to homogenize and stabilize the system and to increase the color homogeneity in molding compounds. It offers improved fiber wetting and therefore optimized properties. It is also used as an anti-separation additive. It is a solution of a high molecular weight block copolymer with pigment affinic groups. BYK®-W 972 prevents phase separation in PS-UP filled molding compounds. It improves the pigment dispersion and pigment stability in LS systems. In HMC, it optimizes the fiber wetting and therefore the mechanical properties. The recommended level is 0.5-1% additive (as supplied) based upon the resin, to prevent phase separation, 0.5-1% additive (as supplied) based upon the fiber content, for fiber wetting and 30-140% additive (as supplied) based on the pigment, to stabilize organic pigments and carbon blacks. It is listed in EINECS, TSCA, DSL, AICS, PICCS, IECSC, ENCS, NZIoC and ECSI. It is in line with EU Directive 2011/65/EC (RoHS 2), EU Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE), EU Directive 94/62/EC (Packaging Waste) and CONEG Toxics in Packaging. It complies with REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006. The shelf life of this product is 60 months.
