SPHERON® NS by Cabot is a 100% carbon black pigment (in the class known as Semi-Reinforcing Furnace (SRF) carbon blacks). It has very low surface area as ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon blacks, but with a higher structure reflected by the higher OAN and C-OAN. Exhibits low viscosity and generate relatively little heat in processing. Possesses better dispersion, higher modulus, viscosity and lower die swell compared to ASTM N772 and N762 type carbon blacks, but requires slightly lower carbon black loadings for the same hardness. It contributes to reduced permeability and reduced compound cost. Well-suited for industrial rubber products such as seals & gaskets, windscreen wiper blades, anti-vibration & engine mountings and hose linings & other extruded articles. Conforms to ASTM N774 carbon black target values. Also, used in tire tubes and inner-liner compounds.
