Phthalic acid esters of C10 alcohols. Acts as a primary phthalate based plasticizer for PVC and PVC copolymers. Around 95% of it is used in PVC as a plasticizer, and remaining is used in the production of polyemrs other than PVC (e.g rubbers). Shows solubility in most organic solvents and insolubility in water. Provides good initial viscosities and very good viscosity stability in plastisol applications. Used in wire and cable formulation in 75°C THW building wire compounds and in 80°C and 90°C appliance wire insulation.
