Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate. Used as a plasticizer. Exhibits good compatibility with a broad spectrum of polymeric systems. Offers good plasticizing efficiency (ease of processing) with above-average performance in volatile loss. Possesses low temperature properties. Imparts resistance to extraction by aqueous media and good electrical properties. Provides very good heat and light stability. Used in medical care, such as IV blood bags and tubing, artificial kidney connective tubing, bubble-type oxygenators, and enema and urinary drainage bags, cardiac catheters, end tracheal tubes, and certain implanted heart valves and devices, in cable compounds, vinyl upholstery, tablecloth, shower curtain, raincoat, shoes, garden hoses, swimming pools liners.
