KRATON™ G1657 by Kraton Polymers is a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) linear polymer with a tri-block structure. Acts as a thickening agent and viscosity modifier. It solidifies mineral oils to provide strength, enhanced flexibility and cushioning properties. Moreover, it provides elasticity and creates excellent moisture barrier. It performs very well at low temperatures and possesses excellent oil retention. It offers high level of formulation versatility, high clarity, enhanced product stability and broad range of rheological profiles. It shows excellent compatibility with variety of oils and can be directly dissolved in heated oil. KRATON™ G1657 finds application in cable-filling compounds, injection molded, or extruded “foamed“ oil gels. It can also be used to create low density foams when blended with oils and thermoplastic expandable microspheres. These foams can be thermoplastic or thermoset. Thermoset UV cured foams are more resistant to higher temperatures. Complies with FDA and listed on AICS, Canadian DSL, IECSC, EINECS, Japanese ENCS, KECI, NZIoC, PICCS, NECI and TSCA.
