Trigonox® 161 by Nouryon is used as a curing agent in unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester and acrylic thermosetting resins. It is a mixture of 1,1-Di(tert-butylperoxy)cyclohexane and tert-butyl peroxy-2-ethylhexaoate. Being thermally unstable substance, it may undergo self-accelerating decomposition. Trigonox® 161 is used in bulk molding compound (BMC), continuous laminating, fiber glass reinforced plastics, filament winding, hot press molding (HPM), low pressure molding compound (LPMC), pultrusion, sheet molding compound (SMC), thermoset composites and thick molding compound (TMC).
