Tetramethylammonium chloride. Acts as a catalyst. It gives enhanced reaction rates and yields. It leads to less production waste and also reduces energy costs. It provides solubility in (polar) organic solvents and water. Also provides catalytic activity in promoting e.g. reaction of hydroxyl groups with epoxy groups. It can be used as phase transfer catalyst in the preparation of polymers like epoxy resins, vinylester resins etc.
