PEPTON® 44

PEPTON® 44 by Thomas Swan acts as a peptizer. It is 2,2' dibenzamido diphenyl disulfide blended with a synergistic activator and an inert carrier. It increases the efficiency of open or internal mixer mastication of natural rubber and general purpose unsaturated synthetic elastomers, where reduction of viscosity is desirable.

• It catalytically promotes molecular chain scission during mastication, thereby reducing its time & power consumption and offering lower production costs & increased production capacity.
• It is effective in mastication at 70°C & above, and provides best performance at 150-160°C.
• Its peptizing action is inhibited by sulfur and the viscosity of compounded stocks is therefore stable on storage.
• PEPTON® 44 is suitable for use in direct compounding.
• The recommended dosage level is 0.2-0.5 phr for natural rubber and 1.5-3.0 phr for synthetic elastomers.
• It has a shelf life of 48 months.
