Migration of Ultraviolet Stabilizers for Plastics into Packaged Commodities

SpecialChem / Apr 4, 2011

Ultraviolet protection additives are incorporated into polymer formulation in order to protect the polymer from deterioration in physical and other properties by the effect of sunlight and other sources of ultraviolet radiation. Such additives are used in a wide variety of applications ranging from protection of plastic seats in sports arenas to protection of surgical appliances when exposed to ultraviolet light for sterilisation purposes. They are also used in food packaging applications such as bottling of fruit drinks or cooking oils etc., in plastic containers.
