Environmental issues have certainly become more and more important in China. Consequently, environmental protection is one of the 5 core themes of the most recent Five-Year Plan (2016 to 2020). Many new measures in this plan will have impacts on producers and users of plastics additives. Some examples of what the plan proposes are:
- Moving a majority of chemical production into dedicated chemical parks
- Reduction of VOC by 30% by 2020
- Self-sufficiency in chemical new materials (including engineering plastics) to rise to 82% by 2020
In addition, the shift towards stricter implementation of existing regulations will also have a significant impact on the plastics additives market.
