Ampacet has announced the introduction of AntiScratch ABS 6000047-E additive. The new grade improves abrasion and scratch resistance of styrenic plastics. Gloss, aesthetics or mechanical properties of the polymers are not affected by the new product.
New Additive Reduces Surface Defects
AntiScratch ABS 6000047-E is added during the extrusion process. The additive smooths the surface of injection-molded parts, reduces the defects associated with abrasions, scratches and other marks. Ampacet AntiScratch ABS 6000047-E is non-migrating and does not affect dye stability or lead to dye bleeding.
The additive is used in styrene-based polymers and alloys, such as ABS, PC/ABS, SAN and MABS. It is also used in a range of end-use heavy-duty applications, including:
- Appliances
-
Home furnishings
-
Luggage
-
Automotive parts
-
Electronic devices
While some plastics are sensitive to scratches and marks, consumers expect long-lasting surface finishes free of defects that may impact product value. Anti-scratch and other additive technologies improve scratch and abrasion-resistance for long-lasting surface finishes and enhanced product quality.
