EastmanEastman is introducing three new plasticizers with certified recycled content*. The plasticizers, which are drop-in replacements for existing products, offer the identical performance of Eastman's legacy products but with 20%–59% recycled content*.

Eastman's New Grades:

For applications like food wrap film and packaging adhesives, these Eastman Renew plasticizers have food contact clearance from the U.S. FDA and the European FSA.

"Customers throughout the value chain want more sustainable products, and Eastman is committed to providing solutions," said Erwin Dijkman, Eastman's vice president and general manager of chemical intermediates. "These new plasticizers can be used as drop-in replacements for our legacy products with no need to change formulations or certifications. They also provide immediate, meaningful wins for companies working to meet aggressive sustainability goals."

Eastman will produce the plasticizers with its carbon renewal technology, one of two molecular recycling technologies that use hard-to-recycle mixed plastic waste as raw material, reduce consumption of fossil fuels, and have lower greenhouse gas emissions. The recycled content is achieved through a mass balance allocation process certified by ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification).

"We're creating a wide range of plasticizers that could contain even higher percentages of recycled content and an even lower carbon footprint to meet the growing demand for sustainability," said Li, market development manager of plasticizers technology.
