nordmann fakumaNordmann to exhibit latest innovations together with partners Marfran, Polytechs, Repol, UBE and Voelpker from October 17-21, at Fakuma 2023.

FAKUMA is an important gathering for professionals in the plastics industry, particularly for those in the DACH region. Nordmann representatives from several different countries are excited to meet with suppliers and customers at this year’s event.

Customized Solutions for Industrial Applications

Nordmann’s partners and co-exhibitors are also looking forward to the many opportunities for face-to-face exchange as they showcase their latest innovations on-site.

Frederik Röhrs, sales director Plastics & Rubber at Nordmann, highlights a few of these, “MARFRAN has two new TPE compounds in its range MARFRAN GREEN, which feature up to 90% renewable materials. Our partner Polytechs will be presenting a wide range of innovative compounds and additive masterbatches for cabling, plastic films, extrusion, and injection molding applications. As a compounder, Repol will be talking about the customized solutions it offers for a wide range of industrial applications. UBE will be showcasing its commitment to sustainability at the Fakuma, having now received USDA and ISCC Plus certification for its production process. Last but not least, Voelpker is pleased to present the Cevo® montan wax-based product line for recycled materials.”

Röhrs concludes by saying, “In addition to our partners’ innovations, we will of course also be showing our own Nordmann brands. Our NORANTOX® line of antioxidants and UV stabilizers, for example, or the Nord-MIN® MB functional masterbatches that serve as odor absorbers, antimicrobials, and fragrance MBs. In the area of flame retardancy, we offer our customers a comprehensive portfolio of halogen-free flame retardants and synergists for polyamide, polycarbonate, and Poleoleolefine under the brand name NORD-MIN® Flame Retardant Masterbatch (FRMB). By using NORD-MIN® FRMB, the required flame-retardant classes can be achieved. The flame retardants are predispersed in the masterbatch and can thus be added dust-free.

Facilitate the Use of Recyclates in Plastic Compounds

As Dr. Irina Fink, Technical Sales & Product Manager Polymer Additives at Nordmann Germany, explains, “Fakuma is a major highlight for us every year. This year, we’re excited to present several new raw materials that support recycling technologies, improve the environmental footprint of end products, and promote a circular economy. In my opinion, this is where the future lies. Plastics are valuable raw materials that should be recycled and reused.”

Günter Handler, managing director Nordmann Austria, adds, “The recycling industry is making great strides in the continued development of its recycling technologies, with the next step being to optimize the various characteristics of recyclates. Together with our suppliers, we’re working on a product portfolio that will facilitate the use of recyclates in plastic compounds in new applications. We’re seeing a lot of progress in this area now, and I believe we’ll continue to see more in the years to come. We’re prepared for this now and are also continuing to invest in staff, especially in Austria.

Urs Zumbach, technical sales & product manager Plastics, Rubber, Electronics at Nordmann Switzerland AG, continues, “Biomaterials, renewable raw materials and the circular economy are all ubiquitous topics right now. The calls for change are unmistakable, and they’re justified. However, it’s up to all of us manufacturers, retailers, and consumers to actually help create the change. We have a responsibility to preserve resources for future generations. Fakuma is an ideal platform that gives us the time and place to discuss all these issues. That makes it an invaluable event for us as a company that is so internationally active – and a unique opportunity to meet with experts from all over the world so we can work together on the future of this industry.

Mark Lukasch, senior technical sales & product manager Thermoplastics at Nordmann Germany, comments, “In addition to the topic of sustainable plastics solutions, the turn towards electromobility plays an important role for us at Nordmann. We offer innovative material solutions, such as systems for multilayer coolant lines, associated connectors, and a wide range of materials with high flame resistance in many colors. We are now looking at reducing CO2 consumption through suitable material solutions, where we replace energy-intensively produced materials with precisely fitting alternatives with a better energy balance.”
