ChengDU Silike PFAS PPAChengDU Silike Technology introduces a fluorine-free alternative to Fluorine-based PPA, a PFAS-free polymer processing aids (PPA).

PPA (Polymer Processing Additive) that is fluoropolymer processing aids, is a fluoropolymer polymer-based structure of polymer processing aids, to improves the polymer processing performance, eliminates the melt rupture, solves the die buildup, improves the sharkskin, and so on.

Small Amount can Improve Processability

This Fluorine-free PPA masterbatch, PTFE-free additive is an organically modified polysiloxane masterbatch that utilizes the excellent initial lubrication effect of polysiloxanes. The polarity of the modified groups to migrating and acting on the processing equipment during processing, resulting in the same performance as Fluorine-free silicone-containing additive in the extrusion of wires and cables, tubing, and film, and a small amount of this additive effectively improves the resin fluidity and processability, as well as lubrication and surface characteristics of the plastics being extruded.

The addition of a small amount can effectively improve resin flow, processability, lubricity, and surface properties during plastic extrusion, benefiting polymer customers and the planet while increasing production and product quality. SILIKE Fluorine-free PPA MB, PFAS-free PPA, and PTFE-free additives can equally replace fluorine PPA masterbatch, PFAS Polymer Process Additive, PPA MB, PPA products, fluoropolymer, Fluorine-based PPAs, in many industries such as plastic films, cables & wires, pipes, etc.

Typical performances include:

  • Improve plastic processing fluidity and extrusion efficiency.
  • Reduce torque and equipment wear.
  • Reduce die drool and improve shark skin phenomenon.

The PFAS (Perfluoro and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) restriction proposal, prepared by the authorities of Denmark, Germany, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, was submitted to ECHA on January 13, 2023, with the aim of reducing the release of PFAS into the environment and making products and processes safer by banning Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) that contain at least one perfluorinated carbon atom (estimated to be 10,000 molecules in total), including popular fluoropolymers.

PFAS, including popular fluoropolymers. Member states will vote on the ban in 2025. The European proposal, if unchanged, will ultimately end the use of common fluoropolymers such as PTFE and PVDF, restricting most applications except for a few such as medical devices, food contact materials, fuel cells, etc., and greatly affecting the ecology of the entire industrial chain.
