Adipic acid ester of C8 alcohol. Colorless and odourless oily liquid, free of foreign materials. Acts as a highly efficient, primary plasticizer for PVC, PVC copolymers and for polymeric systems based on nitrocellulose and rubber. Does not dissolve in water. Shows solubility in organic solvents, like chloroform, gasolene, ethyl acetate, methanol, toluene, mineral oil, vegetable oil, and slight solubility in ethylene glycol. Imparts very good low temperature flexibility and resistance to impact to the base resin. Exhibits chemical stability and resistance to discoloration on extended exposure to heat and UV light. Offers high efficiency and contribution to low temperature properties of vinyl. Also imparts initial low viscosity and good viscosity stability, when used in plastisols. Possesses combination of low viscosity and efficiency which provides very good dry blending and processing characteristics.
