agpure® MB 6500

agpure® MB 6500 by RAS Materials is a non-water soluble polymer masterbatch of about 6500 ppm colloidal silver in base polymer (PET, PBT or PP) in pellet shape. It contains silver particles of about 15 nm size with a narrow size distribution of 99 % of the particle number concentration exhibiting a diameter of below 20 nm. Acts as a biocide showing strong activity against all gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, antibiotic-resistant strains, yeast and fungi. Exhibits UV stability, washability, negative zeta potential, excellent leach resistance and cleaning/washing resistance. Provides long-term preservation against staining, reduction of germ adherence, disturbance of the germs, K+-metabolism, irreversible reaction with S-containing amino acids and slow marginal Ag+- release. Helps in avoiding cytotoxicity, adverse odors and the spread of diseases including nosocomial infections caused by MRSA. It is not a sterilizing agent and does not have long range effects. Can be processed at high temperatures (more than 300°C). It is brown in color, easy to use, free of any fillers, miscible in water and insoluble in solvents, salts or solids (leads to agglomeration). Suitable for polyolefins such as polypropylene (PP) & polyethylene (PE), polyester like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) & polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyamide (PA). Applications include textiles and yarns. For fiber spinning processes, agpure® MB 6500 is prepared as a masterbatch with the particular thermoplasts. Recommended dosage ranges between 100 and 2000 ppm.
