BASF’s Anti‐scorch System Receives European Flexible PU Foam Innovation Award

BASF received PU Foam Innovation Award for its Irgastab® PUR 70.

The European Flexible PU Foam Innovation Award is presented by EUROPUR and Urethanes Technology International. Out of the shortlisted companies, participants overwhelmingly voted to give the award to BASF for their Irgastab® PUR 70.

Liquid Heat Stabilizer Blend for Polyols

The novel amine‐free, aromatic‐solvents‐free anti‐scorch system Irgastab® PUR 70 has been designated as the winner because it is said to combine good scorch protection, excellent gas fading resistance, very low light‐induced discoloration as well as extremely low emissions –VOC, FOG and aldehydes to meet the most stringent emission specifications set by the automotive industry and regulatory bodies.

  • Exhibits good resistance to scorch, fogging and textile staining.
  • Offers low VOC and FOG emissions, outstanding gas-fading resistance and extremely low light-induced discoloration. 
  • It allows dust free handling, automatic dosage and shortening of mixing time.
  • Recommended for the manufacture of polyether- and polyester-based flexible foams and PUR flexible foams in automotive applications as per VDA 278 10/11.
  • Irgastab® PUR 70 can also be applied in combination with additional antioxidants & co-stabilizers (e.g. phosphites), and/or light stabilizers (e.g. HALS, UVA). 
  • Its recommended use level in slabstock polyol applications ranges between 0.4% and 0.45% and in molding polyol grades the use level ranges between 0.05% and 0.1%.
