MOMENTIVE PERFORMANCE MATERIALS to Present Thermally Conductive Plastics Solutions at NPE

Published on 2015-02-23. Author : SpecialChem

STRONGSVILLE -- MOMENTIVE PERFORMANCE MATERIALS (MPM), the world's largest manufacturer of Boron Nitride (BN) polymer modifiers, will present a technical paper on the “Benefits of Surface Treatments and Mixed Filler Formulations for Thermally Conductive Plastics” on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 9 am as part of ANTEC at NPE.

Thermally conductive plastics are gaining attention as an efficient alternative to metal for heat dissipation challenges in a wide range of applications and industries such as LED and E&E. BN materials not only enable high thermal conductivity but also provide excellent electrical insulation. This paper explores the use of BN-based mixed filler formulations to achieve cost effective formulations while also delivering significant improvements in physical properties such as tensile strength and impact strength. The surface treatment will have the effect of increasing thermal conductivity and lower the viscosity of BN-filled thermoplastic composites.

The presentation will be given by Dr. Chandrashekar (Chandra) Raman, Global Application Development Leader at Momentive Performance Materials. In his current role, Dr. Raman is leading a team of application development engineers while continuing to work closely with Momentive's customers to support their development efforts and grow the market for thermally conductive plastics.
