Vulkanol® 88 by Rhein Chemie Additives (Lanxess Group) is a good general-purpose plasticizer for natural- and synthetic rubber, offering particularly good low temperature flexibility. It is used in rubbers which require polar plasticizers, if they are to be used at low temperature (e.g. nitrile- and chloroprene rubber). It is designed for roll covers, hose, seals, conveyor belting and molded bellows. Recommended dosage level for NBR, CR, NR, SBR is 30 phr and for IIR is 20 phr, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer. Vulkanol® 88 has a shelf life of 2 years.
