DTBP 50-AL

Di(tert.butyl) peroxide. It acts as an initiator (radical source) in the rheology modification of polyproylene and polymerization of ethylene. It appears as a colorless, mobile liquid, which is de-sensitized with high boiling aliphatic hydrocarbons and has a molar mass of 146.2 g/mol. In case of ethylene, it is recommended in combination with other peroxides. In case of CR (controlled-rheology) polypropylene, the degradation (e.g. in an extruder) lowers the molecular weight mean, and permits easier (re-) processing of the polypropylene. The melt flow index of the controlled rheology is dependent on the peroxide levels employed.
