Polylactic acid (PLA) is the main biopolymer available on the market. Because PLA is mainly found in its amorphous state, its mechanical properties, notably thermal resistance, tend to be poor. Mechanical performance can be improved by forming and growing crystalline PLA with Imerys engineered talc.
